My photographs of people were always done with respect. I honour them all. Some people posed for me and some were pictured in action. I give them my thanks for their cooperation.
I thank Stephen Lau for his friendship, mutual mentorship, and his pressure to get me do what needed to be done.
Michael Rae’s interest was important. He chose Nate Schmold to design the website. I knew what I wanted and Nate delivered.
I have a special place in my heart for the First Nations people. They have honoured me in various ways and I hope they feel that my work honours them. It was Herman Many Guns that introduced me to the Piikuni. Over some years I met many Treaty 7 people that showed friendship to me. They include Leonard Bastien & Audrey Weasel Traveller, Reg & Rosemary Crowshoe, Charles Weaselhead, Nicole Robertson, Jackie Wabisca, Chris Strangling Wolf Jr., Colinda & Joel Rabbit, John Healy, Jason Goodstriker and Bill Mclean. John & Carol Murray from Montana should also be mentioned. I was eventually honoured with a Blackfoot name mistaki spita and a headdress. Gerry Conaty organized the Treaty 7 exhibit that was exhibited at the Glenbow Museum.
David John was Director of Honours, The Chancellery, Government House, who arranged an endorsement for me to photograph the Companions of the Order of Canada. Lilly Koltun of the National Archives purchased a print of every Companion. Martha Langford purchased a collection of the Companions Of The Order Of Canada for the Canadian Museum Of Contemporary Photography which is now part of the National Gallery. An exhibition of that work was opened by Governor General Raymon Hnatyshyn as part of the celebration of Canada’s 125th birthday.
John Beddome(Dome Petroleum) and Murray Todd and Ed Fercho of Canadian Marine Drilling(Dome Petroleum) supported my photographic efforts for Canmar’s drilling activities in the Beaufort Sea.
My long time engineering friend Bill Roe spent many hours hanging early versions of the Tallpecs portfolio in the former Customs Building.
My thanks to the Calgary Hyatt Regency Hotel for exhibiting my work on an ongoing basis.
In the background I was supported by my wife Joyce and our extended family. My children are Susan, Terry, Bruce, Nancy and Matt(Jennifer). My grandchildren are Nicole, Blaine, Gregory, Ted, Kate, Sophie, Marshall, Jackson, RJ, William, Davis, Benjamin and Nicholas.
